Who We Are
Tarbit has been transporting bitumen, petroleum-products and chemicals since 1947, and is owned by the Hermansson and Svanström families.
The shipping company is characterised by high safety and environmental awareness, keeping focus on quality, sustainability and reliable effectiveness.
Tarbit is a flexible and customer-focused shipping organisation, whose long experience has resulted in invaluable knowledge in dealing with customers interests through safe transportations.
Our long experience in the tanker business, trading all of the world, has afforded us in-depth knowledge with tankers designed for very special needs, including state-of-the-art technology, transporting clean and dirty petroleum-products and high heat cargoes, including coal-tar and pitch, up to 250ºC.
We maintain a continuous improvement programme, which puts great importance on energy-efficiency and eco-friendly operations. New technology, motivated and highly qualified crew, together with good seamanship are important ingredients in making us a dependable transport-partner both today and in the future.
Skärhamn has been our base from the beginning and today our main office is attractively located right next to the harbour. We have all the know-how that are necessary for modern tanker shipping and all the collective experience required for safe transportations of bitumen, petroleum-products and chemicals.
The majority of the office-staff have experience from life at sea; this offers many advantages, as they are there to handle all kind of support to our customers and vessels twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
